Air Jordan 1 ‘Fearless’
Jordan’s ‘Fearless’ collection highlights the communities, stories and collaborators connected to MJ’s daring drive to the top. To embody the intrepid attitude of MJ and the Air Jordan 1, we’ve collaborated with unfiltered singer/songwriter Miraa May. Raised on the streets of Tottenham, Miraa’s love of community and unapologetic individuality shine through in whatever she does, making her the perfect symbol for Jordan’s Fearless AJ1.
Born in Algeria, Miraa May relocated to Tottenham at the age of two. Her first exposure to music came in local youth projects and soon she was taking music classes whenever she could. Miraa speaks an impressive five languages (Algerian, French, Japanese and Arabic) and it’s her proud multicultural background that has helped shape her musical identity.
Using songwriting to chronicle her own life and thoughts, Miraa’s music is characterised by a fearless honesty. By sharing her experiences on themes such as heartbreak, community and depression, she hopes to empower and inspire others to bring about change – or as she puts it herself: “I want change and I’m going to make change.”
“Tottenham’s where I’m from, it’s part of who I am, and it’s ultimately shaped my music… It’s a very tight-knit community with lots of support.”
Miraa cherishes her community and that same community is integral to the work Miraa creates. After getting her first exposure through the youth projects in her local area, she continues to work with the same manager and group of friends. Tottenham lies at the heart of everything Miraa does with her second EP, E15, written when she was homesick in Miami – it was “an ode to her ends.”
Styled on Miraa, this rendition of the ‘Fearless’ Jordan 1 arrives with a bold combination of two coveted Jordan colourways. To the back, sky blue patent leather takes things back to the ‘UNC’ colourway, while the red patent leather which adorns the toebox harks back to the famed ‘Chicago Red’ palette. Offset by a clean white base, the detailing continues onto the insole, where “Limits, like fear, are often just an illusion” is printed – referencing MJ’s iconic 2009 Hall of Fame speech. Signing the shoe off, a signature gold jewelled wings logo decorates the ankle.
The Air Jordan 1 ‘Fearless’ is now sold out.
