adidas Originals City Series – size? Exclusive Zurich OG

After dusting off the cobwebs earlier this year, we continue the revival of adidas Originals‘ coveted European City Series, this time unearthing an ultra-rare, firm favourite from the archive – the size Exclusive Zurich OG.
It’s a hot topic amongst adidas collectors which of the brand’s City Series collections sit at the top of the list, but more often than not it’s the European collection that has fans trawling through thrift stores and forums to try and find that limited-edition release from the series.
Introduced throughout the 70s/early 80s, adidas Originals’ European City Series chronicled 24 cities throughout Europe, with each commemorative shoe characterised of by its own unique colourway. adidas recently revived the collection earlier in 2019, and now we’ve very pleased to welcome back another bona fide ‘70s classic that lifts its name from Switzerland’s city of Zurich.
The Zurich, which is back for the first time since 2004, was originally crafted from Oxhide leather and sported a standout shiny look. The sleek shoe featured ankle and heel padding with a subtly raised heel to enhance support and also boasted a non-slip rubber profile, including a strategically paced pivot point at the ball of the foot for an extra dosage of comfort.
For this version, we wanted to again display the rich colours and authentic materials whilst stripping back the lining to give the shoe a somewhat deconstructed feel close to how the original models would have felt.
Returning in its iconic blue and white makeup, serrated leather three stripes adorn the sidewalls and the brand’s famed Trefoil logo neatly decorates the lateral side. The heel tab and Three Stripes is splashed with a lighter shade of blue – referencing the idyllic Lake Zurich, while below, the pair is rounded off in classic fashion with a gum rubber outsole.
The size? Exclusive adidas Originals Zurich OG will be available via the size? website, app and in size? stores on Saturday 28th September, priced at £85 and available in both men’s and women’s sizes.
