A real clash of the titans, our latest size? exclusive takes you on a journey that stretches back millennia and enters the realms of mythology. So without further ado, let us introduce you to the PUMA Inhale ‘Kraken’ and ‘Medusa’.

Infused with reptilian and sea-creature-like features throughout, the runners draw influence from one of the most illustrious tales in Greek folklore: Perseus vs the Kraken.

In true Greek mythology, Perseus actually tackled Cetus, a giant sea serpent, but for the silhouette’s sake, we’re going with the way the beast was depicted on the big screen in ‘81 and 2010 and opting for the Kraken representation.

All you need to know is that Medusa – a creature with serpents for hair and the ability to turn enemies to stone with just one glance – had her head removed by Perseus. In turn, he used it to defeat the Kraken – a large sea-dwelling creature from the deep. So let’s move onto the silhouettes.

Just to quickly familiarise you with the model: the Inhale was one of PUMA’s flagship running silhouettes back in 2000. Designed to tackle high mileage, the innovative shoe boasts the brand’s cushioning e+Cell technology in the sole unit, which added extra cushioning to the heel and forefoot to provide runners with enhanced comfort and support.

For the ‘Medusa’, venomous green coats the pair’s breathable mesh uppers, contrasting with flashes of hot pink to the snakeskin Formstrip curves and branding and hits of shining black patent leather and silver popping up throughout. The ‘Kraken’ opts for a deep purple hue for the mesh base, red Formstrip curves and glimmering silver accents throughout. With translucent rubber outsoles sitting below to ensure you never lose your footing.

Last but by no means least, each pair boasts its own respective decorative insole design. Printed with either a slithering snake or tenacious tentacle graphic, both are complete with exclusive size? and PUMA co-branding, an accolade we’re honoured by.
