For the third instalment in our size? Expert blog series, we met up with our size? Expert, Heidi, over in Meadowhall, who shed light on Sheffield, her long-standing love for Nike and the perks of using size? Experts.
Next on the itinerary is Toulouse, where we catch up with our size? Expert, Fabrice, who gave us a taste of life in his adopted hometown, his love of all things Nike and the benefits of our new Experts service.
Introducing: Fabrice
What’s your name and where are you from?
I’m Fabrice, I’m 37 years old. I live in Toulouse, it’s been more than 10 years since I’ve lived here.
What does your city mean to you?
Toulouse is my adopted city. I was born and grew up in Paris, but it’s here that I became an adult.
How would you describe your personal style?
I have quite a casual style. I like to mix smart with sportswear, echo the spirit of Japanese style. A bit of streetwear too, but that was more when I was young.
What is your favourite Nike product?
Air Max 1. Not sure which ones, in particular; there are so many and I’m really into them all. Maybe the Air Max 1 Atmos Elephant Print which I don’t have, unfortunately.
What is special about your city?
Coming from Paris, I like the fact that it’s a big and small city at the same time. It’s one of the biggest cities in France yet everywhere you go here you can bump into people you know. People are more open here.
Where do you like to hang out?
When it’s sunny, I like the Daurade area; there are a lot of coffee places where you can sit outside. I like the Hyper centre, with the old stones typical of Toulouse, and the district of St Cyprien. They are all districts where young people are often outside on terraces having parties.
What are your biggest influences – music, fashion, sport?
I would say music; I listen to a lot of music. I mostly listen to American artists and a bit of Japanese, English, Belgium, not many French ones. Unfortunately, I’m not really convinced by the whole hip-hop scene at the moment. Sport also – as we are in France, football obviously; NBA, NFL. A lot of series and films too… It’s from all of this that I take inspiration.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Instagram mainly. Everything is centralised; videos, photos…
What does 2019 have in store for you?
A lot of surprises I hope. It has started well already with good things from Nike. As an NBA fan, the release of the Jordan 4 Bred, the Vomero too with nice colours that I like at the moment. I think good things will be coming out in 2019.
Fabrice and Nike
What does Nike mean to you?
It’s iconic, perfect. It’s a brand represented by the best athletes, whatever the sport. For a few years now, it’s also a trendy fashion brand, everybody wears Nike and not only to do sport. It’s one of the biggest brands that everybody knows about.
Who wears Nike in your city?
From the youngest to the secondary school pupil to the A level student as it’s trendy to wear Nike. Executives, who in their forties want to wear the same models in their time off as they were wearing when they were younger. The grandmother, with foot problems, who also want to wear something comfortable.
Which of the Nike product launches has been most anticipated?
The launch of the Air Max 1/97 Wotherspoon that I’m wearing at the moment. The weeks and days before the launch were incredible. Almost 100 people every day were asking if we will get it, when, how they could get it, was it a raffle? The morning of the launch the front of the shop was full of people. So many people were waiting for it.
Do you consider yourself an expert on Nike?
I think I’m a Nike expert. I’ve been wearing it since a young age. I’m really interested in the brand which embodies everything I like: sport, music, cinema. I know how the model’s size, the history of the icons.
Fabrice on size? Experts
How does the size? Experts service work?
It’s really simple. When you are on the website on the article you want, if you have a question about a particular product you just click on the icon, select your expert and we will receive your message and reply to you as quick as we can.
What are the benefits of using the service?
The interesting thing about this service is that when you are ordering online you can’t try on the products. As all the articles don’t have the same sizing, the same cuts, the same fittings, it’s complicated to order. As experts we know the products, we have them and are able to reply to you promptly, whatever your question, to help you choose.
What does being a ‘size? Expert’ mean to you?
Someone that’s going to be able to answer all of your questions. When you are on the website and have a question about a product, you just have to click on the expert button, select your expert and ask your question. We’ll reply to you as soon as we can. You can choose more easily.
What is the most commonly asked question you hear in store?
About the sizing of the sneakers, depending on the brands and models because they don’t all size the same way. For a gift, it’s especially tricky, because even if we have the size of the person they don’t all fit the same way and people don’t want to mess it up.
How would your colleagues describe you?
I suppose they describe me as someone cool, relaxed but enjoys doing my job and likes doing things well.
Why did you want to work at size?
I wanted to work with sneakers and size? is the best shop in Toulouse for this field.
What is your favourite Nike produce from past and present and why?
The old model of the Air Max One – Ody; in red and white. It’s the first pair I bought and each time they wear out I buy a new pair of the exact same model.
Be sure to keep your eyes on the size? blog for the rest of our size? Experts series…
