Our size? exclusive adidas Originals Ozweego takes you on a journey to America’s famous Oswego Lake. Situated in Lake Oswego – a city in the Clackamas County of Oregon, Portland, the lake has a rich history spanning back hundreds of years, and it’s this heritage which serves up the inspiration for our exclusive edition.
Let’s quickly familiarise you with the model: the runner made a welcome return earlier this year and is a fresh take on adidas’ classic Ozweego 3 model. Although it sports the same mesh, suede and TPU DNA as its lightweight 1990’s counterpart, its runner sports a new streamlined design and is packed with improved technology.
Reworking the pair for the present, adiPRENE tech sits within the heel and adiPRENE+ is placed in the forefoot. These cushioning innovations dull the shock and stress that the impact movement places on your feet which helps to minimise the risk of injury. Similarly, a thick EVA midsole provides you with extra padding, while a traction rubber outsole keeps your feet firmly on the ground.
Although the Ozweego doesn’t actually take its name from the US town or lake, we thought why not bring the two together to produce one good-looking silhouette.
Taking note of the natural colours that sweep across the Oswego, we’ve dressed the model in a colourway befitting of the beautiful setting. A bark-inspired maroon base nods to the area’s abundance of Western Red Cedar trees in Clackamas County, while a rich, earthy gum hue adorns the supportive suede overlays. Reminiscent of the lake itself, the soft leather tongue and padded lining are soaked in a crystal cool aqua blue.
The woven Three-Stripe branding and decorative footbed are an ode to the region’s century-spanning history, celebrating the creative patterning produced by the area’s indigenous peoples. The striking geometrical decorations can be traced back to cave paintings, stonework and fabrics stretching back millennia. One final touch: 3M accents feature throughout the uppers to ensure you stay visible when the sun goes down.
