Spotted: Style Trends – GFW 2019

With Graduate Fashion Week over for another year, we thought we'd showcase some of the standout styles we spotted down at London's Truman Brewery...

Nike Air Force 1

The Bruce Kilgore designed Nike classic has been a staple in the footwear scene since its inception way back in 1982. The Air Force 1 ’07 style we spotted at GFW is a limited-edition collaboration between Nike and New York City denim retailers 3x1. Fashioned from Japanese selvedge denim - for the first time ever - the collaborative effort sees the pair arrive in a stonewashed palette, perfect for the summer season.

Nike Air Max 98

The Air Max 98 was Sergio Lozano’s next Air Max venture, following on from his previous Air Max 95 effort. Originally released in 1998, the runner transferred the same full-length, cushioning Air sole unit from the Air Max 97, while reworking the upper with asymmetrical, overlaying panels of leather and textiles.

adidas Originals SC Premiere

adidas Originals’ sumptuously smooth SC Premiere boasts a modernised court aesthetic. Inspired by the brand’s archival tennis styles, the pair’s butter-soft leather uppers promise you enduring comfort and look great when styled with just about any outfit.

Nike x atmos

The highly coveted collaboration between Nike and Japanese streetwear experts atmos landed earlier in the year to a rousing reception. Opting for Nike's Air Max2 Light as their signature piece, the 1994 runner boasts an aggressively patterned design, with 12 vintage patchworks from Nike’s ‘90s apparel catalogue plastered onto the shoe’s uppers - making for a distinctly ‘atmos’ aesthetic.

Converse

Elevating the Chuck Taylor All Star 70 to new heights, this trail-inspired silhouette above reworks the brand’s iconic basketball model with a bulbous midsole.

Air Max 95

Styled with some loose-fit stonewash jeans, the stylish individual above sports the legendary Nike Air Max 95 on her feet. The great thing about the '95s is their versatile design, meaning it can be worn with a whole range of outfits. It looks equally as great with a tracksuit, as it does with baggy jeans or cargo shorts. It's a true veteran of the footwear industry.

Nike Epic React Flyknit

Boasting a technical meets formal aesthetic, the student above and to the left sports an industrial-looking Nike running vest with suit trousers and Nike's Epic React Flyknit trainers. If you’re unfamiliar with the Epic Reacts then let us fill you in: its Flyknit uppers hug your feet for sock-like comfort and eliminate the pressure a traditional tongue places on your foot. While below, the pair boasts another wonderful feat of innovation from Nike - The React midsole. Energy-responsive, its cushioning design means it can absorb the impact of your step and transfers the force right into your next stride, propelling you further in the process.

With another amazing Graduate Fashion Week now under wraps, we were truly honoured to once again be part of the celebrations and sponsor the Fashion Styling & Creative Direction Award. You can read more about the award and check out the winner here.
