Ralph Sampson was a pretty big deal in the ‘80s. The NBA Hall-of-Famer used his nimble agility and incredible height of 7’4” to tower over his helpless opponents. Ralph was the first pick of the NBA Draft in ’83 and was signed by The Houston Rockets, where he averaged 21.0 points and 11.1 rebounds, going on to win Rookie of the Year in ’84 and NBA All-Star Game MVP in ’85.

With Ralph being one of the biggest, if not the biggest, name in basketball, PUMA swiftly sealed his signature. The collaboration brought with it the birth of Sampson’s eponymous court shoe. Custom made and tailored to Ralph’s size 17 feet, the sneakers were built with a mid-height construction for robust ankle support and boasted a lightweight design to complement Ralph’s agile playing style.

After spending 30 years on the sidelines, this season the legendary Puma Ralph Sampson returns in two sleek editions. Available in a low-profile and an OG mid version, both iterations are crafted from a crisp, clean leather upper, decorated with nubuck Formstrip branding and Ralph’s signature to the sidewalls. Rounding the heritage design off nicely, a rubber cupsole underfoot blends with the uppers seamlessly and cushions each step with aplomb.
