Nike Air Max 90 ‘Mars Landing’
Back in 2014, Nike delighted fans with their moon-inspired Air Max 90 ‘Lunar Landing’. Its American flag-inspired heel, Nike Lunar tooling and bold reflective upper made it a highly coveted release, and now, five years later, there’s good news: Nike is releasing yet another space-themed Air Max 90 – which this time draws inspiration from the Red Planet.
Coined the Air Max 90 ‘Mars Landing’, the iteration’s meticulous attention to detail was the result of several rounds of trial and error. The Nike team pored through hundreds of archival images with the aim of mimicking Mars’ surface with total clarity, and the result is quite something. A magma orange all-over graphic coats the shoe’s synthetic upper, complemented with hits of reddish-orange to the laces and interior. Underfoot, the shoe’s patterned outsole draws its influence from the Mars ‘Opportunity’ Rover, which recently concluded its mission after 16 years trawling across the planet’s dusty terrain.
The Nike Air Max 90 will be available on the size? previews app and in selected size? stores on Saturday 16th March, priced at £140 in
