adidas Ultraboost 19 – Paris Event Recap
It’s been almost four years since the original introduction of the celebrated adidas UltraBoost running shoe, and to kick things off in 2019, adidas have switched up the DNA to create the latest incarnation. We headed over to the exclusive preview event in Paris to take a closer look at the new look, and learn a bit more about the research process behind the design.
After consulting thousands of runners for performance feedback, the main points raised were that people wanted a simpler shoe that still included all the technological advances that made the Ultraboost line so innovative. The new version features 20% more Boost cushioning underfoot to help deal with impact and improve comfort, an improved Torsion spring that sits in the middle of the sole unit, Primeknit 360 for the perfect form-fitting upper, and a redesigned heel cage. If you remember back to subsequent versions of the original, the heel cage appears to have taken inspiration from the classic ZX range of runners from the ’90s, so was built in a structured, lightweight plastic. This time around it’s been stripped back to its basic framework to save additional weight.
