adidas Originals ‘Acid House’ Pack – size? Exclusive

After teasing the duo in the latest episode of true to size? over the past weekend, we’re pleased to finally announce our latest collaborative project together with adidas Originals, the ‘Acid House’ pack.

The Smiley Face’s position within Acid House culture is largely down to DJ Danny Rampling, who adopted the emblem after a chance encounter with a fashion designer on a night out, covered in pin badges with the vibrant grin printed on them. Featuring on flyers and membership cards for his night ‘Shoom’, it would soon go on to become THE signifying logo of an era.

A reconfigured version of the original Falcon Dorf training shoe from 1997, the updated Yung-1 is strikingly accurate in appearance as far as retro-releases go, albeit with a few branding tweaks that take the shoe away from the performance category and bring it into the Originals family. The new Falcon takes the DNA from the family of the same name, and updates it again for 2018 with alterations to the shapes and lines on the upper. Both shoes sit on the same classic Torsion midsole unit as seen on the original model back in the 90’s.

Consisting of a Yung-1 and Falcon, the themed colourway of the pack centres around the ‘Smiley Face’, a central representation of the Acid House culture through a simple two-colour icon. Adding a small but significant brand detail to the release, the smiley face printed on the insole of each pair is that of ‘Trimmy’, a character used by the German Sports Confederation for a fitness initiative throughout the 1970’s, designed to encourage the country to get moving.

The uppers on each pair feature similar material selections throughout, with the Yung-1 featuring soft flat suede, nubuck and soft mesh, and the Falcon utilising nubuck, mesh, and a touch of black leather on the heel panel. The same three key colours are interpreted differently over the pack; A bright, bold yellow accented by hits of black and white covers the Yung-1, and the Falcon takes on a more toned down approach to the palette, with the majority colour being white, with yellow and black featuring minimally throughout.

The size? Exclusive adidas Originals ‘Acid House’ Pack will be available through the size? previews app and in all size? stores on Friday 24th August, with the Yung-1 priced at £100, and the Falcon priced at £85.
