adidas Originals Continental 80
Sitting within a plethora of great 80’s tennis releases seeing a resurgence this year thanks in part to Mr West, adidas Originals are bringing back the Continental 80.
Giving off more of an aerobic vibe than simpler tennis styles such as the Stan Smith, the Continental is a technological one-up from icons of the 80’s. Adding a foam portion to the instep allowed for extra manoeuvrability on the court and that little added bit of cushioning needed when impacting on the court. Visibly it sits alongside the Powerphase, another shoe which has seen a surge in attention due to it’s transformation into a premium leisure shoe designed to sit amongst the Yeezy Calabasas line, and there’s no doubt the Continental will also be getting all the attention it deserves after years out of the line.
Keeping things fairly traditional to bring it back, two simple, monochromatic colourways are first up; off white, cream tumbled leather and all black versions work as perfect archetypes to start adding in more colour to as the season progresses. The minimal hits of colour come in the form of the thin pinstripe that runs horizontally across the upper.
Both colourways of the adidas Originals Continental 80 will be available online from 11:00pm Wednesday 20th June and in selected size? stores on Thursday 21st June, priced at £75. Check your local store for availability here.
