New Balance 597 ‘Neotropic’ – size? Exclusive

Our first collaborative project with the brand this year, we’re pleased to present our rendition of the New Balance 597 in two vibrant colourways. Dubbed the ‘Neotropic’ pack, the duo take colourway inspiration from the lifeforms found within the Neotropic realm, an area built from dense tropical rainforest and home to a myriad of plants and animals.
The New Balance 597 is one of the latest silhouettes to be added the brands esteemed product roster, in a range that dates back several decades and has constantly pushed the envelope of performance running shoes. Arriving at the beginning of 2017, it’s profile and material selection wouldn’t look out of place in amongst some of the brands greatest running shoes that live as part of the famous ‘500’ product series. It is in fact a brand new shape that channels the classic details New Balance are known for, while making use more up to date materials and midsole technologies.
The first colourway of the pair is a bold combination of deep red and gold, an homage to Toucan’s in particular who frequent the Neotropic regions. The upper comprises of a slightly textured suede, dyed in both of the main colour choices. Contrasting grey mesh panels sit on the toebox and ankle region, breaking up the more flamboyant hues.
Reaching to the opposite end of the spectrum for the second colourway, the palette is a lot more muted, making use of shades of green and light pink to take the theme in a slightly different direction. The greens representing the rich forestry that shapes the tropical environment, and the pink passiflora flower follows onto the mesh underlay and eyestay.
