Nike Air Presto Mid Utility
Following last week’s ‘Greedy’ release, the new versions keep on coming with this latest rendition of the Nike Air Presto Mid Utility. Ready to take the colder climate head on, the upper has been fully re-upholstered with a hardwearing rubberised synthetic. All signs of embroidery have been weather sealed with taped seams to ensure your feet stay dry throughout bad weather. The elasticity of the ankle sock seen on the Flyknit version of the mid-top has been sacrificed in place of the weatherproof fabric, but entry is aided by the addition of zips down each side, also making use of taped seams and inverted zips.
Adopting the midtop sock we’ve seen added onto an abundance of releases from Nike this past year, this latest rendition of the ‘T-Shirt for your Feet’ follows in the footsteps of a few different versions that came before it. Kicking off in 2002 with HTM’s Air Presto Roam, this premium execution of the Presto toyed with the use of high-end suede on a performance shoe. Available only with select Tier Zero accounts, each shoe was individually numbered to further enhance the sense of exclusivity.
After this limited release the mid option seemed to get shelved for 14 years until the introduction of the Presto Ultra Flyknit earlier this year. Utilising a full Flyknit upper, this combination brought together the best of both worlds to update the Presto for 2016. The latest collaborative effort on the mid-style saw Errolson Hugh’s Acronym brand apply their signature technical aesthetic to the futuristic runner and adapt it specifically to their needs.
Even with the drastic material upheaval on this latest take, all of the Presto’s main characteristics have still been retained, the plastic straps, toe bumper and heel cage, phylon midsole and five-dot Alpha Project branding are all still present. This change just allows you to be able to wear the Presto whatever the weather, especially with this trio of colourways that perfectly encapsulate this darker time of year.
All three colourways of the Nike Air Presto Mid Utility are available online and in size? stores now.
