adidas Originals Gazelle GTX ‘City Pack’
Continuing the Gazelle’s celebrated return for 2016, the latest collection takes the shoe international and add’s two new iterations to the brands esteemed ‘City Series’.
Paying tribute to Moskva (the native translation of Moscow) and St Petersburg, the material construction is perfectly suited to the cold winters of Russia. Both colourways are outfitted in high grain full leather uppers, with the inside of each shoe lined with hard wearing Gore-Tex to keep your feet nice and dry during a downpour (or a snowstorm!). It’s sometimes a risky move for a brand to add to such a historic collection, but the colour blocking on this duo helps them fit in perfectly and only adds to the established heritage of the series.
A set of considered colourways, the white upper of the Moskva pays homage to the original colour of the walls of the Kremlin palace, with vibrant red highlights signifying the cities iconic colour. St Petersburg takes on a more seasonal base colour, with an all over deep black nubuck covered upper serving as a foundation. Blue hits on the stripes and heeltab draw inspiration from a myriad of sources, namely the river that runs through the city, the historic coat of arms, and of course the local football colours. To finish, Gore-Tex branded tags hang off the rear of each pair to call out the innovative waterproof material lining each pair.
As is tradition on City Series releases, each locations name is branded above the top stripe in gold foil lettering, and on these special interpretations a Cryllic translation of ‘Gazelle’ has been applied to the left foot of each pair to give a nod back to the base model.
Both colourways of the adidas Originals Gazelle GTX ‘City Pack’ will be available online and in all size? stores on Friday 7th October.
