Nike Air More Uptempo White/Gum
Since the NBA’s formation back in 1946, we’ve seen thousands of pairs of basketball shoes hit the hardwood, and there are a few particular pairs that are forever etched into the minds of sports fans for numerous reasons. Chicago Bulls’ Small-forward Scottie Pippen made a name for himself back in 1996 while wearing the rather flamboyant Nike More Tempo (later renamed the Uptempo), a black basketball sneaker with a full airbag underfoot, and enormous white leather lettering plastered across the side. This year the shoe turns 20 years old, and to celebrate we’ve seen the return of the original black & white icon, as well as the gold medal winning ‘Olympic’ version that dropped last month.
Updating the 90’s favourite, Nike have stripped the palette back to basics with an all over white leather focused upper, with tumbled as the base layer, and a smooth premium hide on the block lettering. A combination we’ve seen on many releases in the last couple years, the vibrant white has been twinned with a full high quality gum rubber outsole, branded up with a bold white swoosh across the bottom.
The Nike Air More Uptempo White/Gum will be available online and in selected size? stores on Saturday 6th August, priced at £140.
