My Chuck 70’s – Jake Millers
In this next edition of our exploration into the different ways of wearing the Converse Chuck 70, we headed back up to Manchester to meet up with fashion and lifestyle photographer Jake Millers.
Still in his early years of productivity, Manchester local Jake is currently one of the cities most active young photographers. He first picked up a camera while at school, citing it as a hobby to fill some time and use as a form of creative outlet. Starting out purely by posting his photographs up regularly on social format Tumblr, he soon began to see an interest gathering around his work. Continuing to develop his visual identity, Jake has been working closely with several local start-up streetwear brands to create visuals for their promotional activity.
Through his own interest in sartorial style, Jake also runs a separate Instagram account called Jake Presents MCR which is purely devoted to documenting the well-dressed locals of the city in a clean, simple format that lets the clothes and individual style do the talking.
“I constantly have a pair of Converse on my feet, especially the 70’s range, you can batter them up as much as you want and they’ll still look great.”
Jake’s style draws hints from Japans current output of technical outerwear, in particular The North Face’s ‘Purple Label’ licensed product. Layered up for the cold northern climate with overshirts and outerwear, Jake’s vibrant ‘Sunflower Yellow’ High Chuck 70’s sit perfectly under a well worn in pair of selvedge denim.
