Footballers and their Footwear
In the run up to the new football season starting this weekend, we sat down with several footballers from Aaron Cresswell to Ben Foster to discuss their current rotation and what one pair inspired their passion for footwear.
Ben Foster – West Brom
What was the one pair that got your love for sneakers started?
I remember having my brothers Nike Air Max 87’s and adidas Torsion as a kid and loving them!
What’s in your current footwear rotation?
I signed with adidas about a year ago so I’m wearing a lot of the limited edition adidas Originals x size? City Series from a few years ago; the Glasgow and Manchester get a good bit of wearing – I had to get them on eBay!
What pair is next on your hit list?
I’ve got the adidas Yeezy Boost 350 already so I want the black pair when they release.
What is your all time favourite pair?
That’s got be my Nike Air Mags! I also love my Nike Air Max 1 ‘Cherrywoods’ and some of my ASICS TIGER Gel Lyte 3’s like the Slam Jams and ‘Flamingos’.
How do you store your collection?
I’ve got a snooker room with glass case cabinets with them all lined up!
What is your favourite football boot?
Easy.. the adidas Predator Accelerator! Surely the best silhouette ever made.
Aaron Cresswell – West Ham United
What was the one pair that got your love for sneakers started?
I’m not too sure really – I’d most probably go with the Nike Air Max 95; they did them in all different colours so that’s were I most probably started collecting..
What’s in your current footwear rotation?
All different really… But most probably the Nike Roshe One at the minute.
What pair is next on your hit list?
Not to sure am waiting to see what’s new coming out..
What is your all time favourite pair?
Most probably the Nike Air Max 95 again; when I was younger growing up in Liverpool everyone had a pair haha!
How do you store your collection?
I just have them all stacked up in their original boxes in one of my spare rooms.
What is your favourite football boot?
My favourite boot of all time has to be the Nike R9’s which Ronaldo wore in the 98 World Cup.
Stay tuned for part two, including Darren Bent and more.
