RECAP: Converse ‘Made By You’ Space and Closing Party
An art installation featuring 2000 Polaroids of London’s Converse All Star Chuck Taylor fans was created in Shoreditch to celebrate Converse’s ‘Made By You’ campaign.
The anamorphic installation created an outline of the London map from the polaroids which from every angle gives a different view. It was created by local artist Damilola Odusote, known for his sculptures which combine everyday objects with abstract techniques, with the support of students from Central Saint Martins.
From the slightest mark to the most original personalisation, the impressions on each pair of the All Star Chuck Taylor hints at their unique story. These footwear portraits gathered in Damilola’s installation reveal and celebrate the self-expression of some of the capital’s most diverse characters, to create an artwork that is authentically Made By You.
Tuesday evening also marked the closing night of the ‘Made By You’ event space. To celebrate guests were treated to bespoke visuals, food and drink and music from a special line up curated by Swim Deep. Various art and film installations surrounded the space and those attending were able to visit a special area where they could get their own pair of Converse photographed in the same Converse ‘Made By You’ style.
