Timberland Abington Fall ’14 Collection
The Abington Fall 2014 Collection is made with full-grain leathers, Woolrich fabric and Vibram rubber — and was inspired by the able, hard-working people who worked through the bitter northeastern winters in this brief-yet-vital chapter in New England industry.
A Cool Idea
Not long ago, a glass of chilled water in the summer was considered a luxury. It was a time before refrigeration, and it sparked an industry that for a while was the country’s third largest. In the late 1800s to the early part of the 20th century, ice harvesting was big business.
A Hot Commodity
The concept was simple: cut chunks of ice from New England lakes and ponds in the winter and sell them to people for keeping food and drink cool. It took some time to catch on, but once it did, people couldn’t live without it.
Abington Hiker
A classic hiker profile, with smooth, full-grain leather and Woolrich fabric on the collar. The Abington Hiker is fully waterproof with a GORE-TEX membrane, and sits atop a Vibram outsole.
Abington Haley Chukka
With an upper made mostly from original Woolrich fabric and a genuine leather accent, the Abington Haley Chukka has striking looks to go along with rubber-encased outsole lugs from Vibram for extra traction.
The Timberland Abington collection is available online here and in selected size? stores, with the Hiking Boot (£200) and Haley Chukka (£125) available in UK sizes 8 – 10.
