House of Vans – London’s First Indoor Skatepark

Deep in the heart of London, Old Vic Tunnels at Waterloo currently lays dormant; 3,000 square meters of prime real estate, wasted – That is until Vans found out about it. The aptly named ‘House of Vans’ plans to utilise the four tunnels as a creative space, for skating, gigs and exhibitions.

Two of the tunnels will be made completely into a covert style skate park (London’s first permanent indoor one too), keeping the exposed brick and original features; the ramps and bowls have been tailored to fit the unique space perfectly. Running parallel, the two other tunnels will house a 800 capacity venue space, built to house music and artistic events alongside a proposed cafe and bar down the other one.

Vans’ Jeremy de Maillard had this to say about the project:  “The House of Vans London is the physical manifestation of the cultures and creativity at the heart of the Vans brand. London is the perfect city to expand this original concept first established in Brooklyn and it’s an honour to take over this iconic venue from the Old Vic. We’re looking forward to building on this legacy, working closely with the local communities and key stakeholders involved in the project.”

The House of Vans looks set to open on the 9th of August with the skate park being completely free to enter.
