Reebok ‘Energy Return System’ 1500

This classic runner is an understated model that would probably get dismissed quite quickly in today age due to the popularity of either Air or Gel technologies, but when it first release back in the late 1980s, the Reebok Energy Return System series it gave both a run for their money in many ways. The revolutionary sole unit integrated 5 years’ worth of research and development, along with tubes made from DuPoint Hytrel, one of the most resilient materials at the time which was also used within the car manufacturing industry.

Reebok’s ERS was designed to push all the limitations of a running shoe and ultimately surpass all other running styles of that time, which it did in many ways. The structured upper construction still features the same breathable mesh and premium suede, but now includes an indicative pop of 90’s colour around the heels and forefront. The outsole window is still very much present, showcasing the power of those little tubes and heavily reminding us that Reebok is still very much still in the race that was started some 25 years ago.
