The exclusives keep on coming with this latest addition to our Re/Cut Series with Reebok. The premise behind the project has always been to try and reinvent and reinterpret a Reebok Classic in our own contemporary way, and this latest endeavour is no different. The Classic Crepe takes a running icon from Reebok’s vast directory of shoes and moulds it to fit into the everyday lifestyle.

The Reebok Classic was first introduced into the line back in 1983 during an era that produced some of Reeboks most famous shoes from its fitness line, the Ex-O-Fit, Freestyle, and Workout. Traditionally created with garment leather uppers, the shoes were super lightweight and built to accommodate regular intense exercise sessions.

For this latest Re/Cut edition, we replaced the standard issue leather with a high quality flat suede in two seasonal colours reflective of the hues we’re used to seeing during this autumnal part of the year. Nature continues to evolve and alter with the seasons change. Deep juniper coloured leave turn to rich tones of rust and ginger with the switch up in light and temperature.

The use of a smooth leather is only extended to a piped trim that surrounds the suede tongue. The usual embroidered patches are replaced with premium embossing techniques to brand the Motter Tektura typeface into the suede panels. This lettering was introduced back in 1977, with the Union Jack later added to give the brand a firm foothold within the American marketplace as a company with strong British heritage.

Finally, the most obvious overhauled detail is the full crepe outsole. A material more commonly seen on formal and leisure orientated footwear, the crepe is a stark contrast to the original 1983 ridged grip present on the first Classic. A big change up, this current direction reflects on the real transition sportswear has gone through over the decades, crossing the boundaries of the taped hardwood floor and onto the feet of the everyday consumer.

Both colourways of the size? Exclusive Reebok Re/Cut Classic Crepe will be available in selected size? stores on Friday 18th November.
