adidas Originals Athen Launch Event – size? Manchester

Making it’s return for the first time since 2004, the Athen is the latest addition to our ongoing Archive collection in collaboration with adidas Originals. To celebrate, we held a gathering inside our Manchester store for the local collecting community and for those keen enough to brave the cold for a chance to purchase one of the coveted pairs on the eve of the launch. With the colourway and name relating back to Greece, we added a european twist to proceedings by supplying Greek Mythos beer’s and a selection of signature dishes including Lamb Kofta, Tatzikki and Baklava.

Three Stripe gems’s were aplenty on the feet of all attendees. City Series releases both old and new were out in full force, alongside a diverse selection of rare Consortium releases that many may have never seen before. The Athen seemed to be so sought after that some had even fobbed off the Manchester United game being played on the same night just to come along!

Rather than just showing a selection of upcoming product this time around, we took things in a different direction and pulled together a curated selection of vintage shoes from our HQ archive. Original pairs of Athen, Dublin and Berlin sat alongside classic tennis, running and leisure styles.

As well as purchasing the shoes in advance of the release the next day, attendee’s on the night were also able to pick up a limited 1/100 numbered Athen print, exclusively available from the launch event.
